COAST CHOCOLATE
Coast transforms cacao from a commodity into a symbol of pride and connection. Reigniting the rich cultural ties that connect the West African coastline.
This self-initiated project explores how West African cacao could be repositioned from a global commodity into a symbol of pride, connection, and cultural heritage. The name ‘Coast’ pays homage to Ghana (formerly known as the Gold Coast) and Côte D’Ivoire (also known as Ivory Coast), reflecting the historic ties that connect the two countries. The concept was developed around the growing demand for culturally rooted luxury brands among travellers and the West African diaspora, creating a premium product that feels both locally relatable and globally desirable.
The visual identity and packaging combine refined, contemporary design with subtle references to West Africa’s rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions. Expressive acrylic ink shapes and patterns draw inspiration from traditional batik printing techniques, creating an organic interplay of colour, movement, shape, and form. The result is a visual language that feels both rooted in tradition yet distinctly modern. Through craft, thoughtful design, and storytelling, Coast connects people to the places, traditions, and communities behind every bar — creating chocolate that carries meaning beyond flavour.
